Default Phèdre - Painting used?

(The play "Phèdre" directed by Carey Perloff)

David Hou took a photo of the main star Seana Mckenna with a painting as background. I'd like to know if anyone can identify the image/work of art?

Christina Poddubiuk the scenic designer has a blog. Perhaps you could ask her.

It looks familiar, but I can't put my finger on what painting it is. The name that jumps out at you is Caravaggio.

I agree with you John, Caravaggio is the name coming at first sight. Here it is the Narcissus of the hungarian Gyula BENCZÚR (1844-1920)
