Default Need help identifying work!

Hi everyone,

My father gave me this relatively large work. He bought it years ago, but can't remember anything about the artist. I've looked around on the net but can't seem to identify the artist... The signature looks like "Steinert" but the only artist with that name is a photographer...

Here are some pictures:

Sorry about the crap pictures, the work is framed behind glass and is hard to photograph...

The work was bought in Belgium, Germany or the Netherlands if I'm not mistaken, if that helps anyone.

Thanks for any info!

What is this art work? Is it a silkscreen or a litho? Or could it be a numbered photographe of Otto Steinert. he is German born in Saarbrücken 1915-07-12 and lived until 1978-03-03 Essen.

Or could it be Olivier Steinert born in Brussel Belgium in 1953? he is a painter.

Thanks for your answer. I'm not sure how to identify the difference between a lithography and a silkscreen? Could you help me?

I've looked into Otto Steinert's work and most seems to be black & white photography that is completely different in scope, but I've never heard of Olivier Steinert. Thanks for the tip!

Do you know of any literature on Olivier Steinert? I'm not getting any Google results on him... Thanks!

Silkscreen printing is like a stencil with the ink pushed through the screen with a squeegee, whereas a lithograph is drawn on and printed from a limestone slab, sent through a press. With a silkscreen printing the image is not reversed, as it is with most printing techniques.

However, note that lithographs can also be made in an offset process using aluminum plates (the ink is transferred to a roller, then to the surface to be printed). This process does not require the artwork on the plate to be reversed.

Olivier Steinert I found in the database of RKD in Holland. More information on this artist I couldn't find.

Succes met uw zoektocht.

Findartinfo.com lists one serigraph and one watercolor for Otto Steinert. You have to be a member to see the details(I'm not).
