Response

I have a painiing titled "Mountain Scene" signed Arndt, large Gold Leaf frame with brass plate on back of frame with name Francis Arndt and a bitof information about his training in Austria. 1904 seems to be date of his training or of the painting. I am not sure which. The painting was given to an aunt when she retired as the Dean of Women in Amarilla, Texas in the 1970's and was willed to my family in 2000.

It is the beautiful mountain with the chatau in the foreground. I would like to know the value, if any, of the painting and more information about the artist.

Default Paris 1904 Pencil Drawing

I have a pencil drawing signed Paul Wesley Arndt Paris 1904. It is a nude man standing with his face turned away. In the backround can be seen a light penciling of the man in a sitting position, then the artist must have changed his mind and had the model stand. It is very interested. I have read that he studied art in Paris, so I can only assume this drawing was a school project. I found it at an antique store in Florida. I love the drawing but really am not a fan the the rest of Paul Wesley Arndts work. I am a big fan of Louis Icart. I am wondering if anyone would know of an approx. value that an original pencil drawing by Paul Wesley Arndt could be. jillvitale@rocketmail.com

Default Paul Arndt

I suspect that Paul Arndt of Woodstock, NY is the sone of George Edwin Arndt and his first wife (name not on hand right now).

I am a grandson of George Edwin Arndt (Chicago) and his 2nd wife.

My father passed on over 50 years ago; and all I heard from my parents was that Paul cleaned out our grandfather's safe deposit box.

Nonetheless, I would not mind getting one of his paintings and I do forgive him for his selfish act of decades ago.

I am trying to help a friend get information on a painting. It is a mountain scene with a large gold frame... The artist signed it in the lower left corner "ARNDT" all caps. She was told it was one of a kind. Please email me and I can send pictures if you may be able to help... Thank You!!!!

Default Regarding Francis Arndt

I have found no other mention of a Francis Arndt in this regard. I hope you can provide another clue to this puzzle. Thank you.

I inherited a painting that is signed by ARNDT and is of the mountain chateau in front of the alps as background, similar to the photo above. It is labeled on the back as Ostterol Mountain by Francis Arndt. My father bought it in NY in about 1948.
On the back is this biographical note: ARNDT:" Francis Arndt was born near Innsbruch in the Tyrol, Austria in 1905. He studied in the Art Academy in Munich, Bavaria and Vienna, Austria. His studies are in Vienna, Salsburg, Austria and in Tyrol. His originals are well known throughout Europe, and he is exhibiting in various fine art galleries in Austria as well as in other European countries."
That is all of the information that I have. Ken Carr
