I purchased several landscape paintings signed 'Baillie' in Sussex, England last year. I did some research and discovered that they probably originate from a painting production line in the far east. The paintings tend to be copies of rural Dutch or Flemish scenes of the 19th century or views of East Anglia by John Constable.
They have no value beyond a decorative one and appear from time to time on eBay, which is where I later sold mine a few months later. Baillie paintings on eBay tend not sell for more than £25-30 or $50-60 US, perhaps a little more if you can identify what the painting is a copy of and the identity of the original artist. (At the time of writing, a pair are currently on sale on eBay in the UK). However, since few of us will ever be lucky enough to own a Constable or Dutch Master, Baillie paintings are perhaps an affordable alternative! |
