Default Copyright question/who is artist

Hello:

I have two questions. I have a watercolor or print that has a 1887 date by the artist and a 1904 Copyright stamp by Bishop and Denestri in the lower right hand corner. Can someone explain what the Copyright imprint (it is raised) might mean?

Also, I cannot read the artist's name, and will try to send a copy of the picture. In the meantime, it is either a watercolor or print and the subject is that of an unshaven man wearing a beaten up fedora type hate. He it shown from the left side and is looking upward. As a child I always thought of him as a hobo if this helps with the description. The signature appears to be in three parts, with the middle name possibly being "Besti".

Any help will be greatly appreciated!
