Hi there,
Stumbled upon ArtConversation and am hoping someone could helpto tell me the name and/or artist of a particular painting from a description? The main subject is a middle-aged man with curly, shoulder-length dark hair in a brown, hooded garment (perhaps a monk's habit?). Behind him appears to be a rocky wall with the left portion of the painting opening to a tree trunk and behind that an open sky and a distant landscape. The man has his left hand to his chest and with his right gesturing to a small, naked woman (about 1/5th his size) lying on a white sheet. Behind her is an open book and a mask (akin to the Phantom of the Opera mask). There is a rosary hanging from a broken branch on the right hand side and below, on the ground, is a silver salver/mirror surrounded by a patch of flowers. Above the man's head is what could be a halo, with a face projecting from it. Intrigued? So am I! |

Probably a "Temptation of St Anthony". A subject painted thousands of times.I don't see this special one for the moment.
