This plate has been in the family as long as we can remember, but we no longer know the name of the artist or painting. The back of the plate says from the famous painting. Can someone identify the artist and painting?

I don't think it's that famous, as I have never seen it and can't find it. J.F. Herring, perhaps?

Thanks John. Yes it does look like J.F. Herring. I didn't find it in his works either though.

I will have to check next week regarding the maker of the plate. I don't recall seeing anything on it other than the reference to the painting.

I think it looks like Edgar Hunt.
