The attached tag states "England Art" and "Turner County". The signature looks like the name "England". I understand it was probably a hotel or corporate painting and the artist wasn't that famous, however if anyone can help, it would be appreciated.

P.S. If that's a leading "E", then it DOES look like "England". I'm sticking with "Carl", though.
Getty's huge ULAN database lists 10 artists matching "Carl J". Here they are, though there's no guarantee that any of these is the painter you're looking for: Jacobson, Carl (painter, probably American, contemporary) Jaeger, Carl (German painter, printmaker, 1833-1887) Jager, Carl (German artist, active 18th century) Jensen, Carl (Danish artist, 1851-1933) Johansen, Carl (American painter, born 1946) Johansson, Carl (Scandinavian artist, 1863-1944) Jordan, Carl (German painter, 1826-1907) Jordan, Carl (German painter, born 1863) Jorres, Carl (German artist, 1870-1947) Jungheim, Carl (German artist, 1830-1886) |
