Hi Stephan
Welcome to the Kingman hunt And thanks for posting up, we will look forward to your picture with keen interest. I'm not sure if you have already read all the postings but it would be my suggestion to do so. There is a lot of information you will be able to resource by doing so. With your fresh eyes you may also be able to gleen information that the rest of us may have overlooked. We are all trying to solve the mystery of the origins of who "öur" Kingman may be. Must say you got a real bargain there for sure. Good luck in your search and we look forward to your next post.

Question Another kingman?

Last saturday i purchased an oil,25 by 35 inches, signed in upper chase "kingman". The subject is two pointers flushing partridge in an autumnal setting. On the reverse of the frame is stamped " original oil paintings, holt cottage, nonington" there is a telephone number which i have tried. I get a message " this number does not accept incoming numbers"
There is a web site for the village of nonington and i have emailled that site with my queries. I await a reply hopefully!
I have read all the details on this site and seen the paintings. My purchase is definately by the same artist as the one who has painted the other hunting scenes, imho!
Dont know if any of this is useful but the whole issue is very interesting.
Regards to all.

Hi Bonchester,
I am very excited to read what you have written given I tracked Kingman to the same gallery. I previously did a cyber drive past the cottage and it appears to be the gate house of a manor which is beside it. I was not able to find any indication that it still operates as a gallery and hence my excitement that you at least had some sort of a number attached to your painting. I wait with baited breath as I'm sure the rest of us do too.
Cheers

Welcome to the Kingman Search, is it Bon or Chester?
Either way look at posts 85 and 89 from Olgamed, the paintings seem to originate from the same gallery in Kent. Good luck with your attemps to make further contacts with them, and yes we would love to hear of any news, even if it is a dead trail. Could you post a photo and signature of your painting, this would be highly appreciated.

Hi Bonchester
With reference to posting photo, If you have any problems with the size allowance, read post 55 page 3. John Duncan gives a good explanation on how to down size so that you can post on this board.
Good Luck

Default Stephen, Kingman

Hi Stephan
Yes truely a beautiful painting. The Gun Dog scence, quail being flushed out, the grasses, the colours are truely the KINGMAN artist which most of the readers are interested in. Also the Kingman in lowercase as they too seem to have some thing in common, maybe at the time there was a commercial market for this type of painting. Stephan is there anything on the back of the canvas? If you look at some of the previous post I sent you will no doubt see a resemblance to yours and the same theme coming through.
As John said you got a bargain at $10. Its good news to have someone on the other side of the Atlantic with an interest, maybe you could search some of your galleries, or auction rooms to see if there are any other Kingmans about.
Two or three of these Kingman with gun dog scenes have gone through auctions in the UK at around £150-£180 under the hammer, so there you go.
Keep us posted
