I got this oil painting recently and have not been able to find out any information or background about it, including the artist first name or first itital. The artist signature on front of painting says 'Kingman'. On the back of painting is a silver sticker that says: Home Galleries Inc. with the # 262984. Please provide any information you can share about it.

Sorry I can't answer your question but would certainly like to know more about Kingman. I have two paintings by him, one of a group of elephants and one showing two hunting dogs.
I do not even know his nationality and can find nothing about him in the UK. Will keep an eye on this thread. Here's hoping |

We also have an oil painting by "Kingman" And I've managed to find out that he was Chinese/American And was called Dong Kingman. I am unable to find out how much the painting it worth though, The painting is of two German short haired pointers in a golden/earthy coloured background.

i too have a kingman oil painting, which I purchased over 20 yrs ago when I was on holiday in Torque, I paid £70. I dont think it is a Dong Kingman, as the signature is simply Kingman. It is of the same artist as yours because it is a painting of yet another Setter hunting out the birds (Partridge) It is a beatiful painting and sits in our dinning room along with other paintings. A friend of ours also has a painting by Kingman, will need to research further.
Keep in touch if any further news, I also am now interested in the artists. Regards Flogger |

Hi there, i recently got an oilpainting of 2 dogs looking up against a a a bird sitting on a tree. I'd also like to know more about this artist. The 2 dogs on the painting looks similar to the picture added to the first poster.
I'm from sweden, and got this painting of an uncle who was moving away from our town. |

Hello to all,
I do have an oil painting by Kingman as well, representing a pointer and two partridges flying away. It is an oil on canva, measures 30x20 inches. Very beautiful painting. So far I couldn't find anything relevant about Kingman neither in specialised books nor on the Internet. I'm interested by information about this painter. Just for your information, I purchased the painting at an auction sale in Belgium, where I currently live. Thanks in advance for all the info you can provide! Best regards, Chris |

Sounds very much like the one I have except the one I have is 36 x 24 inches, the description is very much similar to my painting. At the back on the canvas is a logo "Original Art Sales" I tried down loading a photo with the signature so you could have a better comparison, but would not allow me to do so due to the memory allowed. Need to learn how to ZIP and Rar the file size. Unless you give me your email so I can send it to you this way. Ragards Not much help at the moment still keep trying |

Hello all
Further to my last message, I am interested in the painting discussed by our Belgium friend Chris. The description of your painting seems to resemble mine, other than the one I have is 36 x 24 inches. There is also a Logo on the canvas at the back which reads " Original Art Sales" I did try to down load a photo along with the signature but would not allow due to memory size. If you are interested I will be only to pleased to send by email. afloy@tiscali.co.uk Not much help at the moment, still keep trying Regards Alan |

Chris please take note: searched around for more info on this artist, there are four Kingmans as follows: Eugen Kingman (American)1909-1975 Eduardo Kingman (Equadorian) 1913-1997 Brant Kingman (American Sculpture) Dong Kingman Chinese American mainly Water colours) 1911-2000 Looking at the works of these artist I really dont think, what we have, are the results of either of the artists (Id be only to pleased to be corrected) There is a lady called Cherry Clark on the Ask Art .com discussion board, which makes interesting reading, especially for you Chris, as her dicription of a painting sounds very familiar. Let me know of your views Regards Alan |

Hi all, im interested in more information on this artist. My mother died recently and i have inherrited this painting. It is stamped as an 'original' and it was her favourite. I believe she picked it up at an art auction in the 1970's in Cornwall uk.

Hello to the last sender.
Its now getting very interesting, as you say you have a oil painting by KINGMAN of a Pointer and two Partridges, seems to be several of theses around, but yet no significant identity of the artist. Please send me your email so that I can forward you a photo of the one I have, then we can compare. I can also give you details of getting the painting appraised and valued. Awaiting reply with interest. Alan |

I can tell you all I have been able to find. I also have a painting by him, however mine and a few others have been landscapes. I purchased mine in May 99 from an estate sell. The daughter told me her father had a painter "Kingman" paint this picture of a view in Japan he really liked while serving in the army during and after WWII. Most however are dogs. The signatues are identical. I am pretty sure he is British, mainly due to the dog series and because 2 other searches have stated that, however, I have never found a first name.

I have one too - a setter scaring off two partridges and with a stamp on the back saying 'Original Artshop'. It has the address of a shop in Canterbury, Kent which no longer exists but was first purchased by my sister-in-law in Gillingham in an arcade by a supermarket. She has asked me to sell it for her as she is very short of cash. I have no idea what it is worth but she paid £100 for it several years ago.

Hi, I also have a Oil Painting by Kingman it is of a wood and stone farm house, and a wooden slab barn. The farm house looks English, but could be Canadin. But as i am in Australia and the painting is on burneybord (like fibro) only made in Austalia,i feel that it may have been painted here. It is 25in x 37in will email photo to anybody who would like to see it. i would like to find out who Mr or Mrs Kingman is myself....... John. johnduncan4@bigpond.com

Hi Jill
Please send me a photo of this painting, it sounds very much like the one I have, it will also enable me to identify the artist. I feel sure that once we can achieve this, the value will be increased. The painting I have was valued by a repitable auctioner at £150 - £200 under the hammer. Looking forward to hearing from you Regards afloy@tiscali.co.uk Quote:
