red roofs. white buildings under hill-top castle; large bridge with river and sailboats; clouded sky; street lamps on the bridge, some figures in colorful dress. signature looks like this: R.E. RU // ELL. can someone identify this? thank you.

cannot identify but have one very similar with the same signature. It is of a small fishing village on the shoreline with white buildings with red roofs and a large winding staircase and sailboats in distant bay. Fisherman with tents on the beach mending their nets their salboats are beached Size= 50x26
P.S. my parents bought it in the sixties. Its a wonderful piece!!! dont know about the artist. anybody know anything else? |

I just got one too its a clown holding baloons and a cigar i looks very old fashioned and has the same signature please let me know if you find out anythig about theis artist!!

I think those lines are stylized letters (or one stylized letter). It looks most like "Runell", but "Russell" is a very common name and my guess would be that those slashes are the letter "s".

R. E. Russell is an unlisted artist from CA who painted things as varied as clowns and Asian mountainscapes...

I have an asian mountain scape along the water with a fisherman in a smaller boat and then a more elaborate boat sailing next to it. Same signature, couldn't find info on the painter.

i have a large painting of three fishing boats along the shore with a mountain town in the background. the houses have red roofs and the entire painting has a foggy haze about it.

I have the exact same picture! I would love to find out more about the artist.I saw the link on one of the other posts on here about the clown picture which is done by the same person and i was very surprised when i saw how much they had it on sale for.I had no idea that it could be worth this much.mine has the original frame aswell,i can tell that because there is a seal on the back of the frame.i think that now i know who the artist is that i will look into it alot more.

i have a large canvas wood framed piece also, its of a village on the shoreline somewhere in Mexico it has white stucko houses with tarakata roofs a man playing a guitar and mountains and ocean view in the background it also has a church with a steeple in the town. i found it at an estate sale and it looks to be old if anyone can tell me more of this artist and how i can find out if mine is original i would be grateful. Thanks........
