military painting?
Have searched for years to identify an unnamed, rather large (2x3 ') print, prominently displayed for many years in the ceramics studio at U.Victoria,Canada 1972. I find it a powerful statement .I would like to know the history of the piece and where to get a print.
In realist style of pastels and greys, the setting features a rather austere, what could be a classic Mediterranean villa that overlooks an expanse of water via a wide straight stone staircase of a few stairs. We are looking from the water up the staircase .At the topmost stair, french doors are thrown open exposing some of the villa interior.
In this setting is featured a dozen off duty private soldiers in various stages of dress, engaged in the mundane casual necessities of life; reading, shaving, conversing , smoking. The uniforms suggest WW2 British issue.
thanks for your help
