Help! I’ve been looking without success for examples of artists who, through their art, critique and pass judgment on another artist’s art or art form. Words alone are easy: many artists praise and pan other artists. I’m looking, however, for examples of artists who do combat with other artists through the medium of their art. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks much.

What about Glenn Brown ?
http://www.tate.org.uk/liverpool/exh...ore-room2.shtm His paintings are often trompe-l'oeiul versions - finely painted with a smooth texture - something you can't really tell from reproductions - of craggy impastoed expressionist works (most famously of Frank Auerbach.) Quite what he's saying is a little obscure. But criticism it certainly is. |
