Default Need help with shipwreck ID

My elderly father has a painting with a rather ornate frame and I'm hesitant to remove it to look for a signature. Does anyone have any info on this painting or it's style/timeframe? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you can send a picture, someone might have a copy and can tell you some information on the ship. there are thousand of ship wrecks out there but may have been search by someone else. Also try typing in 1700's ship wreck and then check to 1800's
hope this helps
