Default Please help identify this artist

I recently purchased this piece because of its content. It's a very small piece; not even a foot wide. I've searched a bunch of places but haven't been able to trace the artist. Does anyone know this artist? Thank you!

Can you take it out of the frame? I think the 3rd letter is an "E", which suggests that some of the signature is being cut off by the frame.

Default Took the back off painting to reveal full name:

Hello John:

Thank you for your reply. I did as you suggested and removed the back from the painting. The artist's name appears to be Knauff...which is what I kind of thought it was before, but wasn't sure. Unfortunately, that still doesn't help me. I did find out, however, that the painting is on hardboard, or what I would call, masonite. That fits since the woman I bought the painting from said her husband brought it back from the West Coast in the mid-to-late
1950s. It is very small; the image area (now that I have the back off I can be accurate), is only 6 15/16" x 5" (give a 1/32nd of an inch or so). I've included an image of the full signature...I hope someone knows this artist.

Charles Knauff ...Featuring an almost identical painting to the one you've got.

See also eBay ...A dealer has 2 paintings by C.F. Knauff for sale @ $149 each. Nice paintings, but as with yours they are quite small. I can't find any records of past sales for this artist at auction houses, so I don't know how this compares.

Default Thanks!

Thanks John:

Apparently, I found the pictures on Ebay just about the same you did. Also, it's evident that Mr. Knauff mass-produced this particular gem...very interesting.

Again, thank you.
