Default Could this be an Edward Mitchell Bannister?

Hi- A few years back I purchased this painting at an antique/junk shop in upstate NY. The guy who owned the shop used to pay a lump sum for items left over from estate/garage sales and sell them at his place. I've found some really good stuff(large folio original currier ives, carnival glass, royal bayreuth) and some not so good. Anyway I paid $50 for it and tried to identify it to no avail and then the other day I was watching the Antiques Roadshow and saw this painting by Bannister. It looked very similar in style, but I'm no expert. My painting has some serious condition issues such as a substantial amount of flaked paint near the bottom. It is O/B about 14"H x 10"W, it is signed and what I see looks a bit like Bannisters signature, but paint is missing around it so i really can't tell. My questio is could this be a Edward Mitchell Bannister?
It's quite dirty so cleaning probably will lighten it up a bit.

Overall I'd say it doesn't look as accomplished as Bannister's paintings, but it does look a lot like that painting of his that is on Askart.com.

Thanks for the reply John...I also noticed it looked similar to some of his other works...it seems like he painted all over the place as far as style....some are clear concise works and others seems alot more impressionist...I know that he met the "love" of his life who happened to be a NYC businesswoman....on the back of the artists board there is still a rather large art supply store sticker which reads "Mancini Artist Tube Colors, Canvas, Oil-Sketching, Paper, Millboards, Fine Bristle and Sable Brushes, Paints, Varnishes, &c., Cor. Patten and Williams Sts., New York". I'll see if I can attach an image. Do you think it dates from his time?
