I purchased a print or lithograph this summer. On the back it is signed in pencil Mr. John Taylor 15 Print in Work. I do not know how to determine which John Taylor this is. The paper appears to be very old. The lady I bought it from said it had been around for as long as she can remember, but she didn't know where it came from. I bought it at her garage sale for a $1.00. My dad said the wood that the simple frame is made from is very old itself. If anyone can help me I would greatly appreciate it. I'm going to the library today to see what I can find on John Taylor.
Thank you so much! |

Could you post a photo of this print? Is the print of a person? If so it could be a print of a Mr. John Taylor. There is also a John Taylor that painted a portrait of William Shakespeare.

I will get a picture of it posted as soon as I can. It is a landscape done in grays and what I call soothing colors, very relaxing to look at.
At the library I found a John William Taylor that did a lot of work in landscaping pictures and one kind of reminded me of the one I purchased. Hopefully I will have the picture posted sometime tomorrow afternoon. Thank you for your help. Marlene |

![]() ![]() The signature on the back is Mr. John Taylor, 15, Print in Work(s). The thing that is shown on this shot, is a reflection from our ceiling fan. Marlene |

I don't believe it is John Williams Taylor. I have done a search at art info and have pretty well eliminated most of the John Taylor's listed there. I thought maybe John D.Taylor, however, his signature doesn't match. I haven't been able to locate any paintings by the first two British John Taylor's listed. There is one landscape painting online attributed to John Taylor from Bath. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Hi Eirene,
Thank you for trying to help me. Do you know of any place that I could contact to see if they could help me determine who this artist is? Marlene |
