I purchased this painting from the estate of deceased Washington Post and Atlanta Journal-Constitution journalist, Bruce Galphin, nine years ago. There is an id label noting Mr. Galphin's address at Harvard University where he was either a student or professor. I am assuming student simply because there is a dormitory hall name as part of the address. It predates the use of ZIP Codes. Clearly it is not an "old master" but other websites have been unable to assist!
I have tried to find out more by searching the artist's name, but all attempts have come up empty. Perhaps I am simply not reading the artist's initial and name correctly. From the painting's content, style and colors, the artist may be of Spanish or Latin origin. If anyone can offer and insight or knowledge regarding the artist and time period this painting was created I would certainly be grateful! Please see photos of the painting and the signature attached. Kind regards, Eric. |
