Smile Help with title and artist please.

Could some kind person help me identify this painting and artist please, or indeed advise how i may go about researching it. There is absolutely nothing on it any where. I believe it is oil on canvass but being only an amateur sketch artist i wouldn't swear to it. It is very dirty to say the least, but fortunately the flash makes it look brighter than it actually is. Thank-you Moira.

This very much is the kind of thing painted by the seventeenth century Dutch artist Philips Wouverman; much copied and imitated in later years:

Smile Thankyou Hercules Brabazon

Thankyou Hercules for for taking the time to reply to my post, and leaving the links for me. I have trawled the internet looking at the works of Philips Wouverman, and having spotted numerous similarities to my painting am convinced your are correct. It is either his work or more likely a later copy. Either way i am happy with the painting and am seeking out a local restorer to bring it back to its former glory. Thankyou again. Moira
