Default Benard Buffet originals or copies

Hi,
I've seen people offering what seems like original Benard Buffet paintings. I'm sure they are some sort of copy. Does anyone know the process that he used to create these copy paintings? Are there any orignals out there? Here's the one I'm looking for information on, but there have been others I've seen too. So still curious how to tell if anyone knows.

It certainly looks like someone could take an eyebrow from this painting and a hat from that painting and so on, and create a shameless but plausible fake.

IMO, when you get into the field of Modern Art, you're relying primarily on the expertise and reputation of the seller. Original paintings by Buffet do exist but they're quite valuable, so personally I would assume that any cheap "pig in a poke" without a real provenance is probably a fake. Even if it was in actuality by Buffet's hand, I can imagine it being very hard to get it authenticated.

Thank you John. Again your a wonderful help. I'm learning from you :-) I am starting to learn you really need to find pieces that have provenance. There are so many people out there that are scammers. It's sad, because I don't do that sort of thing. I guess one of the only ways to know for sure is to buy from the artist themselves. I heard that even museums have fake stuff in their collections and a lot of it. I really love art though and want to find a niche to sell to be able to have good pieces I can collect. Thanks again for taking your time :-)
