Hello,
Someone came into the gallery I work at and was trying to find the artist (or at least, a name) for the piece he has. It is paint-on-glass, I believe (and quite damaged, see below), with alabaster inlays and iridescent teal paint in the water. Unfortunately, it seems that the paint had begun to peel from the glass, and a piece of brown paper was affixed to the back, so repair would be difficult or impossible. I told this customer that I would post this picture online to try and find the artist, but I understand if this is an impossible task. I believe the artist may be local to the Riverside, CA area. ![]() http://s2.photobucket.com/albums/y32...029_114905.jpg |

It looks like a "reverse painting", which is a specialized technique that there's a lot of information about online. You may have already figured this out, but in this technique the artist paints from the foreground to the background, instead of the other way around. I don't think there are THAT many artists doing it, so even without a signature you might be able to figure out who painted it.
As for repairing the peeling paint, good luck with that. It seems like it would be difficult to impossible. |
