Default Help with L Alexis painting.

Hello everyone,

I recently purchased this painting and wondered if anyone knew anything about it or the artist. I haven't been able to find much, and there may not be much to find.

Thanks in advance.

Default L. Alexis

Hello,
I own one of L. Alexis's painting too, so I tried to find out anything about him or his paintings. As a result, I have found some auctions with his pictures.

I was given this oil painting from my grandma from this artist and I am wondering more info on it too. Same signiture as the pic you posted. It is an original, but no certification for it. I have another painting that was apparently bought thorugh W.T. Burger Co, Inc, back in the 1950's I believe and that aritst name is "Bendetti" it says on it, it has a registry number and everything, but I am not sure how much it maybe worth. I would like to know what these 2 paintings I have are worth..hmm..

Default L Alexis

I possess a framed painting of boats by L Alexis which I bought from a shop in Ireland in 1990. The frame was new so assumed the picture to be of a similar age. I paid about £80 for it. No idea what it is worth now so interested to learn anything of the artist and their background.

Default L Alexis

I Brought my Alexis painting at an art sale about 25 years ago. I was told by the art dealer after i brought it. L Alexis was Greek and had had been commissioned by the French embassy to paint a very large painting, which as far as I know still hangs in there Foyer. Although I have never tried to see if this was true. Apart from this little bit of information I do not know anything else about him.

Red face

I am another owner of a painting by L Alexis. It is unnamed but is in oils of a Thames Barge in a river with a moored dinghy in the foreground. It has a bronzish/brown overtone. As someone said Alexis is Greek I have examined the painting and it does lend itself to a mediterranean style. I know nothing more and would be delighted to find out more. Just out of curiosity I picked it up at a car boot sale for £6.

L Alexis produced run of the mill decorative oils. They are of no more than decorative value. Sorry guys.
