Fascinating picture clock;any idea on the setting, subjects, or artist?
Greetings, I hope I am not intruding on serious discussions of art with this question, but this swiss?/french? clock has me fascinated. I am hoping to learn something of it by possibly identifying the subjects, the setting, or, I am sure , unlikely, the artist. The panel is signed but I can not make out the signature. I would hazard a guess that the first letter of the artist's name is "T" or possibly "J". I'm sure that helps a great deal.
One very helpful person, who I know only through email correspondence has suggested that the scene is typical of those painted of the gardens at Versailles.
If anyone would like to get involved in a pretty good mystery, please respond and I will send along any other information and photos I have. Thanks very much for your help.
