Question Please can anyone help to identify this?

Hi all!

If anyone could offer me any help it would be very very much appreciated......

Please see the picture attached - it is a poor image, but i really need to know what the painting is in the back ground? It is an image of a woman stood right next to, holding on to a tree, she has black hair tied to one side and is naked (although you only see her from the shoulders up).

I have been searching for the answer for a while now, with no luck : (

If it helps i originally thourght the image showed eve?

many thanks

Laura

Any hints as to where the picture was taken? Looks like it might be a museum/gallery somewhere.

Hi,

Well i have seen it in 2 places, once in a pub in Sheffield - "The Old House", and once in an old village hall in the lake district (which is where the photo was taken)

It's really bugging me that i cant find out what it is : )

OK, I know this painting very well as it used to be very common in the pubs around the UK and it used to be on sale in stores like Woolworths etc. I never knew the name or artist and have been on the lookout for it since your post. It seems to have disappeared from the scene today along with all the pubs and stores like Woolworths.
However, I'm pleased to say that I have found the details today : the painting is entitled "Tina" and the artist is JH Lynch. Should be possible to get more info from this.
