Hi everyone, I'm a new user here. I have a rather large and beautiful oil painting which I'm really curious to know more about. I can't see a signature, but it's beautifully painted with fine detailing.
The subject is a woman holding a child, looking down at it. The woman is dressed in what looks to me like biblical clothing, she is seated. The child has no clothes but a small piece of cloth on the groin, and small wings. The detail on both faces is wonderful. Colours are still clear, the canvas looks to be aged and is stapled onto a wooden frame. Whoever framed it, has tucked some of the bottom of the picture down under the frame and the very bottom of the womans feet goes slightly under too. I feel like this might be something rather special, can anyone help me, even with a suggestion of where to look for more help... thank you all, Elizabeth |

It's in the style of William-Adolphe Bouguereau. Possibly a copy based on two figures from his painting Admiration.
