I am trying to find information about a painter named James Steel Smith. I have two vivid watercolors painted in 1986, but I have no info on the artist other than his name. One is titled "Graceful Plump Bird" and the other is called "Part of a zoo" They look like they could have been painted for a child's room.
Thanks! |

If you're asking about the same James Steele Smith that I'm aware of, here's a bit of info --
In the late 1980s, I purchased a handful of delightful watercolor cards from Garendo Gallery in Studio City CA. The gallery owner told me that the artist was an art teacher at Cal State Northridge in the Los Angeles area. I don't remember if he was deceased at that time, or if I found out at a later visit. Good luck in your search. If your artworks are by the same Mr. Smith as mine, I know you have some treasures! |

If you're interested in buying some more of his work, I've come across a bit on ShopGoodwill.com - http://www.shopgoodwill.com/viewItem.asp?ItemID=8537455

Not bad I guess. Has a bit of a Yellow Submarine feel to it.
