Default 2 portraits from 1854 - help identifying artist?

Here they are. Image #3 is a close-up of the signature. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.

Those are really nice pieces! The look to me like they are a set in original period frames. They also look to me to be American. I searched the name but nothing came up. I would take it to one of the major auction houses' Free Appraisal Days and have them look at it.

Thanks for the comment. Can anyone tell anything from the types of frames? Are frames valuable?
