old oil painting of fisherman in a dory
A very old oil on canvas painting has been stored in an attic in North Idaho for decades. It depicts a fisherman in a dory (see attached image). No artist's signature is recognizable. The painting has suffered from age and some minor damage. I haven't the slightest notion of the artist's identity and realize it may never be known. Any ideas as to available resources or ideas on where to begin would be appreciated.
