Boy with Geese....Who is the artist ?

Hi, I have been trying to find the artist of the attached painting for a couple of years now....can anyone please help ? I suspect the image is Victorian and possibly British but otherwise have no clues as to who might have painted it.

Unable to locate this. Perhaps a illustration from a fairy tale? Eastern European? Are you sure there is no signature anywhere? Taken a magnifying glass to it?

Many thanks, I only have an image of the work, only in black and white, which I have studied in detail, no sign of any signature. I had assumed it was a well known work, but no one seems to have knowledge of it. I believe it is most likely to be British or northern European.
