Question Unknown Painting of Sad/Thoughtful Woman

I found this beat up painting in a battered frame (which has since fallen apart) at a yard sale. They only wanted a dollar and in its condition I was a little surprised they expected anything for it. But... I loved it. I bought it in hopes of finding a better copy. Problem is, I have never been able to identify it OR the artist.

In the lower right corner the artist signed JPL 1967 (the corner is pretty messed up, six may be a five, the seven may be a two or a wonky three)

Somebody else asked about this same painting in this thread. "JPL" is Joanne Pemberton Longman.
