Default early 1900s oil painting , does anyone know about this

I have been told it was by Václav Černý. I am not sure that is right since he was an Illustrator not a painter.
You can see pics of the painting here http://s604.photobucket.com/albums/t...amdkelley/art/

Artinfo.com (under "art prices" lists one painting sold under the name "W. Cerny". From the title it's a similar subject, or even the exact same scene.

One thing is for sure. The subject is Dutch. No question about that.

The signature doesn't look the same.

A different painting is listed at Artinfo.com: "Sorting the catch on Dutch quayside".

I just noticed that Arcadja has yet another painting by W. Cerny listed:
http://www.arcadja.com/auctions/en/c...artist/367677/

On the other hand, if we are definitely looking for "V" rather than "W" Cerny then these examples may not be useful anyways.

I still don't see the w as a match for this signature on this painting.
I have packed the painting for shipment and I will open it and get a better pic of signature . You can click on the pic at the web site and open it to enlarge. I have cropped and adjusted for a better look.http://i604.photobucket.com/albums/t.../painting4.jpg
On another note. I had a group in Cezh area send me a note saying they thought it was venslav cerny a cezh illustrator who lived in holland for a few years learning to paint. He is a famous illustrator and according to them probably only did a few paintings.
This painting was sold to a bank back in the 1960s for over 7000 dollars. The painting is very large at 3 feet by 4 feet.
