Dear ArtConversation Visitors,
I am in need of titles of artworks relating to literature and poems. I have the "Number 5 in Gold" (Demuth)... and now have Quidor's Headless Horsemen" John Quidor, "The Headless Horseman Pursuing Ichabod Crane", 1858 http://eyelevel.si.edu/ The Headless Horseman Pursuing Ichabod Crane - Speaking of Pictures Interactive http://americanart.si.edu/collection.../sp_quidor.cfm I only want titles of works that I can find somewhere on line and am particularly interested in tie ins with American Literature/Poems. Thank you in advance for your help. Regards, Judy Decker |

How about the famous painting "With Sloping Mast and Dipping Prow", by Albert Pinkham Ryder? The title is taken from The Rime of the Ancient Mariner, although I'm not sure it's intended to be an illustration of that story. The boat seems too small.
BTW, Gustave Dore did a superb set of illustrations for the same poem. http://dore.artpassions.net/ |
