This bronze sculpture has been in my family for years, but we've never been able to figure out who the subject is. It was made by Charles Andrew Hafner, dated 1924. If anyone can help solve the mystery for us I would be eternally grateful. Thanks!

The scupture, I believe, is of my greatgrandfather Julius King. I just today found a photo of the bust dated 1924 and signed by Charles Andrew Haffner, Chautauqua, New York and enscribed to my aunt. Dr. King was of Cleveland and Chautauqua and founder of King Optical later merged with American Optical.

Wow! How amazing that the sculpture's subject could be identified so quickly.

Thank you so much for identifying it. And so quickly too! That is indeed the inscription on it. The prior consensus among my family was that it might be George Bernard Shaw, but that never seemed quite right. I hope you know that your greatgrandfather's likeness will be lovingly cared for.
