Hello,
Sorry to be yet another first poster needs help person. Today I was at a local Goodwill and saw what I believe to be an oil painting and it is signed by the Artist. The paint is very thick and textured and is well cracked. Sorry to be such a newbie, I'm sure you can tell by my description, I know nothing about paintings or art in general. Here are a couple of pictures that show some of the detail and the signature. I would just like to be able to find out if I should hang it on the wall and enjoy it, hang it on the wall and insure it, or contact an auction house. Any help anyone can provide is greatly appreciated. ![]() ![]() ![]() Thanks so much for any help. |

Since nobody has posted about this, am I correct in assuming the artist of this painting is likely a small time unknown?
Thanks for your time. |

I wouldn't necessarily conclude that from a lack of responses. There are a ton of artists out there, and I guess nobody has recognized the style or can make a plausible stab at reading the signature.
But of course the painting was found at a Goodwill store, so it was already pretty likely that the artist is a unknown. |

Thanks for your input, it's appreciated.
The same time I bought this picture, I bought another, also for 99 cents. The other is a Tom Caldwell lithograph that's signed and has very nice professional framing and matting. It's titled "The Gatehouse". I've been able to find out that one is worth between $250 and $350. I can't make out the signature on the oil painting so I was hoping somebody might recognize it. Thanks again. |
