Default Unknown name and value?

I have a print with F Lefler signature on it and I am trying to track down its name and if it is worth anything. Print is generally pale blue/light grey in tonings. It is a girl and a small child/cherub in clouds.
When I search "Lefler" this particular image is nowhere to be found. I am wondering if it is worth anything?

Unhappy f. lefler

hi carolyn, i too have a print with the name f. lefler and have been able to find out any information on it. i think mine is called the wedding procession, but not positive. it is of cherubs and cupid (placing a ring on a sleeping woman's hand). the others are bringing things like wedding flowers and vail. i bought it over ten years ago at an antique store, then it was suppose to be over a hundered years old. i was wondering if you found any information on your print and if you did, where did you find it? i would appreciate the info.

I looked it up on artnet.com..no biographical info, other than the artist's name is Franz Lefler, Czechoslovakian, 1831-1898. I suggest you consult a library rather than the internet if you really are interested in finding out about this artist and his work. There are many sources that list biographical information on artists; Benezit's encyclopedias are extremely useful for artists prior to the 20th century, (in French). So, start with your local library and go from there. The link that I found this artist on is:

http://www.artnet.com/artist/644605/franz-lefler.html

Good luck,

Duncan

Smile F. Lefler

Hi, I recently bought a framed Franz Lefler Litho on Ebay, titled "Love's Young Dream". I am wanting to collect more of his art. If you are wanting to sell, I may be interested. Thanks Karena

Hi, I'm new to this, so please bear with me. The print you have by Lefler is called Fantasies of Love. My cousin has the same print. It was in my grandmothers house. We all wanted it, but my cousin was the lucky one. My grand
mother was not to well off and did not have much. I lived with her, because my mon had MS. There wasn't much to look at in the house, so I always remembered the picture. I know this is really bold, but would you by any chance be interested in selling it? My email is blessed@mac.com

I have a painting that was in my house that is over 100 years old by F. Lefler. I am not able to obtain any info on it and was wondering if anyone knew the value or what the name is. It is a pic of two boys one with the flute and one with a mandolin serenading a girl holding a fan. She is blond. Please email me and let me know if anyone can tell me about this art. Thanks

You can email me at Staree_Eyed_18@yahoo.com. Thank You.

Hello Brusstar, I was wondering if you would describe the coloration of the oil painting. I have seen hand colored lithographs and sepia tone lithographs. Thank you for any information you can share, Kathie Briggs

Does anyone know the name of the F. Lefler print with the girl cherub holding the fan and the two boys, one with a mandolin and one with a flute? This print was hanging in my great-grandmother's house when they bought it back in the late 1800's. Before she died, she asked me what I would like from her house. And when I told her she said "what THAT old thing? That was hanging in the house when we bought it and we never bothered to move it!" I was mesmerized by it as a child and still love it hanging in my house!

I believe that I have the same print as you. Were you able to find out any information on it? Does it have any value that you know of other than sentimental? Any information would be appreciated. Thank you so much and Happy New Year!

I have the same lithograph from my great grandmothers house. It was mounted in a flat cherry frame and perfect condition. She immigrated from Europe (Austria-Hungary?) at 17, apparently alone, arriving Ellis Island 1903. Departure port was Antwerp Belgium. She moved to Martins Ferry Ohio and married another recently arrived immigrant. Was always curious if she bought it in Europe or the US.

For those that also have this lithograph were the original owners also turn of the century immigrants? T

I don't think that was a serious answer. There's virtually no artist whose lithograhs could be worth that much.

hi, I'm new to this so I'm reading old messages, but I was wondering if you have found out any more information about The Marriage Dream print. I found one behind an old news paper reversed in a framed picture from my grandmothers house that I think maybe over a hundred years old. If you have any info it would be so cool to know it's history. Thanks nicole

I have the same lithograph from my grandmothers house. She died last year at age of 91. She lived in Hungary and got the lithograph from a rich jewis family around the the 1940s where she was working at that time.
