Default Choosin' A Mount

I purchased an original drawing/sketch of a cowboy "Choosin' A Mount" in a shop on the River Walk in San Antonio in 1977. The shop owner told me it was a self-portrait of the artist himself. The first name of the signature is definitely Kenneth and the last name looks like Diev.., maybe Riev... It is really hard to determine. It is dated 1977. Can anyone give me some information about who this artist may be? The man (cowboy) in the drawing looks to be around 50. He is leaning against a corral fence with a losso in his hands, slender and with a very wide mustache. Thanks ahead to anyone who might provide some information.
