Greetings,
I can't get a good enough look at these paintings to identify them. May I ask, why do you need to know? Is this for some kind of trivia contest? Number 2 reminds me of portraits I have seen by Picasso, but I can't give you a title. Number 3 reminds me of some boat scenes I have seen by Van Gogh..... again can't give you a title... Number 4 reminds me of the Tahitian paintings by Gauguin..... Good luck, images are not of very good quality which makes identification very difficult. Judy |

Note that some or all of these paintings may be imitations, designed look like priceless masterpieces by one artist or another but not actually subject to copyright restrictions. Anyway, here are my guesses...
1. don't know 2. agree, style of Picasso 3. style of Cezanne, I think -- I know the picture Judy is thinking of, but I think Cezanne or someone from that school is closer 4. agree, style of Gauguin 5. can't make it out - looks like it's probably Impressionist 6. 19th-century American, style of Buttersworth, Cammiellieri, etc. etc. |

Hey, thanks guys.
Unfortunately, these are about the best shots available of these paintings. They are always in the background. You never get a good, straight-on shot of these in the show. There are also more paintings in Higgins' study and they've changed throughout the seasons. Quote:
No particular reason other than curiosity. You see these in virtually all of the 150+ episodes of the show. I've always wondered if they were replicas of real, famous paintings, or whether they were created by the prop department. Coincidentally, I just found out that the Gauguin-like painting (#4) was done by the prop department (it's not based on a real Gauguin painting, just done in a Gauguin style). In any event, if anyone else can provide any more input I'd much appreciate it. Thanks again! Last edited by Goldie : December 22nd, 2007 at 05:03 PM. |
