    Image extends to edge of canvas?

Default Image extends to edge of canvas?

I heard once that a way to tell if a painting is original is to see if it extends around the sides to the edge of the canvas. If it does, it was probably produced by a machine. Is this always the case or are there exceptions? Thanks!
