I have a very old looking pciture with artist shown as ouTin (spelled exactly this way w/ all lower case except the "T". Picutre is very Charles Dickens like scene. Family is outside ston\ne gate and wall appearing to be "seeing off" a son and father. They are dressed in period clothes, women in long dresses and bonnets, men in tails and cane w/ top hat. 2 dogs in picutre w/ snow on ground. Anyone know anything about this artist or picture? It appears very old... Thank you.

Hi Melody,
I was able to find a French artist named Pierre Outin that lived from 1839 to 1899. Do you know if you have an original or is it a print? Auction results show one of his paintings in 2006 sold for over $50,000! Auction results for Pierre Outin To see an example of his signature, which is ouTin like you described, follow this link and then click on "view full-sized image" under the picture: Example of signature Please note that this painting with the ouTin signature is "attributed" to Pierre Outin. You would need to research his signature more in depth than I was able to. This link provides 26 listings for pieces of artwork from Pierre Outin. Hopefully you can find other examples of his signature. Other Outin listings I enjoy collecting artwork but I am in no way an expert so please see an expert if you think you might have something valuable. You can see in the first link that prices for artwork vary greatly so it would be hard to put a value on your artwork (assuming of course it is original). Good luck to you and I hope you have something valuable on your hands. Patrick |
