Question Identification of oil painting/artist

I came upon an, unsigned,non-titled photograph of Mary holding a crucified, Christ. This is an oil painting and from Mary's facial bone structure, I believe, Italian. Mary has two scarves covering her head, a white and a black; she is dressed in a black robe. Both Mary and Christ, have gold leaf halos' about their heads. The photo only shows them from the waist up. What is stiking, the artist captured the sheer magnitude, of Mary's grief! I am afraid I am quite ignorant on what period of time, this might have been painted. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thankyou.
