Default Help Finding artist/painting, please.

I am currently trying to find the name of the artist and the painting for a girl that is going to be leaving town soon. I wanted to give her a poster or at least the name of said painting before she left.

Description: (The description is somewhat vague since I have only heard it from her.)
The painting has an older gentleman working on a table then in that same room the is a work bench with tools and stuff. The in the bacground there is a window looking out to what she describes as Venice, but it could be any kind of water. She says that the man has the most intense blue eyes he has seen so that makes me think that the gentleman must be looking at us from the picture.

That is a rough decription about it, sorry if its not detailed enough, but there is also a little more information about it.

Apparently the picture has been in a textbook used in highschool in Oregon probably from the years 2005 to 2009 aproximately.

She believes the painting to be from the Renaissance.

Please and thank you for all your help.
