I am hoping for help identifying the artist of this painting. I was told the painting was purchased in Leipzig, Germany shortly after the end of the 2nd world war. Two paintings were purchased at the same time from the same gallary (both landscapes, this one and the other was of the black forest.) Given this information it is likely a german or austrian scenery. I know little else of the painting including the name of the gallery my grandfather purchased it in, when it was painted, where it was painted or who the artist is. Looks like it could be "lingard" perhaps? Can anyone provide any leads? Information? I've attached a photo of the painting and close of of the signature but it seems illegible.
