Hi all
I have bought two sketches and have no idea where they originate from or whom the artist may be. I tried to have these identified at the antiques road show but i only had photocopies due to the fact that I was at work and found out at the last minute the show was going on. One of the experts at the show did tell me he was sure he knew who drew one of the sketches but was not willing to tell me who it was until he saw the sketch in the flesh. Can anyone please please let me know if you have any idea at all. One of the sketches is an old man lying down and I have been informed it looks he is on his death bed. ( This is the one the expert was sure he knew about) The other is a man in a top hat and a very young girl standing next to him. looks like late 19th century earl 20th century england. (This one looks like it has some sort of signature on the right hand side) The sketches are no more than 4 inches across and 3 inches high. Pictures attached. many thanks Colin |

It looks like you can see a visible impression around the first work, which suggests that it is an etching rather than a drawn sketch. The second one looks similar, but the picture is much smaller so it's hard to tell.
As for the artist, sorry but I don't have any suggestions. |
