Default Help identifying a painting

Hi! First time using this resource. Thanks in advance for your help. Saw a painting in The Louvre (d'Orsay? Darn my memory) and was so enthralled, I walked away sans info. It is of three shirtless men on hands and knees stripping a wood floor. There are shavings and a few tools scattered about, perhaps a window left and aft and a bottle of wine to the right. They are all in black pants and, though their heads are down, all seem similar in appearance (brothers, perhaps). Stunning realism. I want to say a partial signature is; "G. Caill..." Two are closer to one another and perhaps in conversation, while the third is just a few feet distant (back/left). So sorry to not have more to go on. Beautifully haunting image. Thank you again. Peace, - FINCH

It's a fairly well-known painting and Caillebotte is one of my favorite painters.

One of the neat things about hunting these questions down is unexpected discoveries. Here's another painting of Floor Scrapers by Caillebotte that I have never seen before:

Very curious post for me :
If you enter shirtless men in a Google images search you obtain what you deserve but one image of a painting showing a man after the bath..well, let's see who painted this...Gustave Caillebotte..isn't it our G Caill?
If you enter shirtless men painting, here are six or more Caillebotte that links to the right painting
If you enter stunning men painting....
And so on.
So I find this post a perfume of "Let's know what these experts are worth".
I forgot to say that you find your man entering G Caill

Maybe the original poster didn't want to do a Google search for "shirtless men" or "men stripping" for fear of what might come up.

But I have to agree, if that detailed description and the "G. Caill..." was from memory and not aided by working from a photograph, it was a remarkable feat of memory, almost to the point of being suspicious.

@John@Saintmarc... Ahaa..however,just entering G. Caill will bring up his whole name.

Who does that...remember only part of a signature? ..and yes...quite the memory.
