HI. I was hoping someone could shed light on this painting I have come upon. It appears to be an original, possibly victorian style/era. Its a woman in a white victorian style dress sitting down on a white couch, she appears to be knitting. She has very dark black hair. There is a picture hanging on the wall behind her, possibly of George Washington, although its hard to say. next to the painting, there is a grandfather clock against the wall. On the right side of the painting, there is a large fireplace in which the woman is facing while she knits. There is a circular rug in the middle of the room on the floor, and in the front left corner of the room there is a black tea pot. It's a bit of an eerie, drab painting, but very intriguing and beautiful to me. There is no signature, and the back of the painting is covered with brown paper that looks original.
I have no idea of this is worth anything, or who it could be done by. Either way I love the painting, but would like to find out who did it or if there is any information about it. If anyone could help me out, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you. |

I have attached the file. Hope you can see it, I had to reduce file size so that the forum would accept it. I have cut out part of the picture, but I think there is enough there. Thanks! |

No joy. There would possibly be a signature under the frame.
