Default Please help identify this Classic French painting.

We had this French Oil painting since 1960 and the name of the Artist were damaged when shipping. Please see the broken corner that showed some partial alphabet. This painting is huge: W:5Feet1, H:3Feet1, D:1 inch, and weight 69 pounds.

I love the painting but I don't know. Findartinfo.com has some operators in its search facility that might allow you to look for names matching "P...ulon", if that's what the inscription says.

That would be my guess. It has a turn-of-the-century look reminiscent of Golden Age illustration, or Lee Lawrie's amazing Art Deco frescoes at Rockefeller Center in New York

An artist named P.Paulin. For me, it is not Pierre Paulin, designer well known for his works in the Palais de L'Elysée in Paris for the Presidents Georges Pompidou an Mitterand. He was born 1927 and your artist seems to be active around 1940.

I could have more info next week because I am working for some days on a noisy computer and it is impossible to find anything while riding a B747 engine.

Great work. I can't add anything except to say that I found that the Adam and Eve painting sold in April for 2,800 euros. It's a fantastic painting, a bargain, although I guess that's all it's likely to be worth when we don't know anything whatsoever about the artist.
