Help ID artist please
Have had what I believe to be a watercolor, for about thirty years. The picture is of asian style sailing ships with a domed building far away in the background of the harbor. Sails are quite colorful and billowing. Gulls flying around. Artist initials at lower left appear to be JSS. The cross at the top of the T is longer on the right side and extends over both s'ses which are formed with very little curvature at the top half - almost pointing straight upward with a bit more curve to the bottoms. The s'ses appear so similar they could fit together if pushed together - that's how little curvature is used. Painting is on a firm piece of fibrous paper(?) that appears to have been roughly cut and glued to the back of the matte. The matte has quite large pores at the front. All appear to need a cleaning but, as you can tell from the above description, I know nothing about artwork and wouldn't consider doing anything to it. Couldn't get the photo small enough for this website. Any help appreciated. Thanks in advance.
