I'm wondering what is the name (and artist) of the painting featured on the cover of The Pindar Diamond by Katie Hickman?

Was thinking...at first..perhaps Hortense Mancini..second thought her sister Maria..the book cover seems softer to me. You can ask the author on facebook.

Once again I am in awe of your ability to do that.

Default Thank you!

Thank you for the answers. Although I never would have found it myself even if it was presented to me; the image on the book cover was clearly altered. I wonder why the author was allowed to first use the image with no information on it and second alter it? Hmm.

I suppose they're technically "allowed" to because the painting is in the public domain. But if credit really isn't given anywhere in the book, that seems rude and inappropriate to me.
