First of all, please forgive me for any gramatical mistakes. I'm typing from Italy.
A person proposed me this paint. I'm not an expert as you are. Can you give me more information about this paint. (I think is on oil)

There's a famous artist named Jean Metzinger, as you probably know.

I am no expert, but the signature looks close enough that I believe it's either Metzinger's or it is forged to look that way. The painting style doesn't especially look like anything else I've seen of his, but he worked in a lot of different styles so who can say? If you have reason to believe it's authentic, perhaps you should show the original to an expert - a dealer or auction house in your area.
