I found a larger version of the same photo on Flickr. There's a link on that page to a site called Vetfriends where maybe you can find more information. Good luck.

Hey Majors Girl

The picture was taken in "1968" in "Song Be" Vietnam(1) in the Quang Tri provinance(2)
The soldier in the picture is named "Delbert Griffin"(3) a.k.a "DOC GRIFF"(3) "Doc", served as a medic(3) whose biography is in appendix (3).
Age of D Griffin in picture is 23(Since age of Delbert Griffin is 61 in 2006 (2))
He served in the "Alpha Company 2-6 Platoon"(4)

"Served under Captain Peters and Lt. Demby"(5) Other members in the platoon "Donald Federick, Carlos, Daniel Edwards, Barnett Sizer, Booker Hollis" (5) (seeing there are 5 other names and hes in 6 platoon I inferring this)

Contact info for D Griffin "my new e-mail address is grifdlbrt@aol.com"(3) old e-mail address "griffinmagoo@aol.com"(6)

He's also a member of military.com(7)

Concerning the picture in question I have drawn these conclusions:

First some of the pictures in appendix(2) are from "By Delbert Griffin" himself so maybe he has the picture? All the pictures from Delbert Griffin are taken in Quang Tri Province(1) (860km from Song Be(8).) This means the picture was definitely taken at a close interval of time with the pictures in question. So either he has them or a good bet he knows who does.

But because there is relatively large distance between Quang Tri Province and Song Be (which we know the picture is taken (1), they are not from the same batch and I believe someone else has the picture. *relatively large distance is taken from google maps stating it will take 14 hours 55 mins.

Also the pictures in possession of Delbert Griffin show him in a manor that he's ready to take the picture, yet the picture in question shows him in a "real life" shot. The owner of the picture could have taken it and kept it as a fond memory of his colleague, which I believe is the case and that Delbert Griffin does not have the picture.

lastly the image from Flickr and the image from (1) has one difference and in my opinion the most important one is the description. It clearly shows that image in (1) supersedes Flickr since image(1) has more information and also from vetfriends (9) (where image 1 comes from) it shows that you can follow them on different websites listing Flickr as one.

Another reason that they are from different owners is the fact that there are other pictures of Delbert from the same source as (1) namely (11) and this two set of pictures compared to the pictures taken by Delbert Griffin(2) are mutually exclusive from each other, suggesting different batch.

In Conclusion the owner of the picture in question will be found at by contacting vetfriends(10) and asking to provide with contact info relating to owner of picture in question.

....Im tired now I hope that helps. If at the end you track down the picture maybe you can contact Delbert Griffin and ask him to sign it..

P.S. In doing this research I found out Delbert Griffins home phone plus address, but for privacy reasons I wont disclose this information but gosh for the first time I realise the price we are paying for having our lives disclosed on the internet...
